LSFA UNDER 19 COUNTY CUP FINAL

DATE: WEDNESDAY 03 APRIL 2019, KICK-OFF: 5 p.m.

VENUE: GIANT AXE STADIUM, HOME OF LANCASTER CITY F.C.

RESULT: LANCASTER ROYAL G.S. 1 ORMSKIRK SCHOOL 3

0-1 12 minutes: Morgan Rees

0-2 48 minutes: Louis Burke

0-3 65 minutes: Sam Hepke

An evenly contested Cup Final played in a very sporting manner by both sides. Ormskirk took their chances well to lead 3-0. Lancaster fought back well late on to reduce the arrears but contrived to miss further chances resulting in Ormskirk School becoming County Champions. Congratulations to Ormskirk and to all the spectators who made the occasion a noisy but memorable one for all the players. Many thanks to the three extremely competent match officials Paul Kettlewell, James Atkinson and Joe Kirkley from the Lancaster Referees' Association.

Great performance by the Lancashire girls.

Playing against the strong wind in the first half, Lancashire scored in the first minute and two great saves by keeper Grace Pilling kept Lancashire ahead. After West Midlands had equalised. Beth Strutton restored Lancashire's lead with a superb strike before half-time.

Lancashire, with the wind behind them, ran out comfortable winners in the second half with great goals from Lou Lou Newton, Megan Wilson and Katie Smith to emulate the Under 16 Girls with both teams reaching the ESFA Inter-County Final for the second year in succession. Well done the Lancashire Girls !
